The failed FiBank robbery

New details have been revealed regarding the armed robbery that occurred this Thursday morning at a branch of the "FiBank" bank in the area of ??the former Bus Park in Tirana.

Journalist Merin Maçi said that the perpetrator appeared calm when he went to the bank, but then everything went wrong for him and the plan he had been thinking about for days did not work out. The 58-year-old builder, in addition to the Kalashnikov rifle, had 30 rounds of ammunition with him.

"What is surprising is the way he went armed, he had 30 more bullets, as if he was going to fight the bank's security staff," said Merin Maçi while explaining all the details of the incident.

"He had gone 2 days before, he calmly entered the bank"

"This incident was well thought out on his part, despite everything going wrong, well thought out for the very fact that the 58-year-old had gone to the bank two days earlier, seen the security conditions in this branch, and explained that this was the bank that offered him the easiest opportunity to leave the scene, despite being exposed to almost every camera, in every business," said Maçi, explaining that the perpetrator of the incident, after his arrest, indicated that he was in difficult conditions due to a debt he had, which pushed him towards this action.

It is believed that the incident was committed under aggravated conditions, as he stated that he had been in difficult conditions for several months and that he had debts, due to a business he had. His status was abused as he was not a real builder, but had a team with whom he did reconstructions of apartments or various facades. Subcontractor. He stated that he had a debt of 70 million old lek. He arrived at around 11:30 exactly on Kavaja Street, which connects to Vasil Shanto Bridge, parked his Mercedes Benz C Class car, headed to the bank and in the moments he entered, he displayed an extremely calm behavior, "said Maçi on the "Opinion" show.

But how could someone enter a bank with a Kalashnikov?

Maçi explained that the 58-year-old was not checked by security officers, as he had a normal handbag and they saw him as a simple customer.

He stole the money, but two policemen were waiting for him at the door.

But, the moment he entered the bank premises, the 58-year-old took out his Kalashnikov and shot once on the ground. According to Maci, there was only one customer in one of the two cash registers in the bank premises at that moment. The robber approached the two cash registers and demanded all the money they had from the employees.

"Frightened, they opened the door and he managed to take 950 thousand lek, or 9.5 million old lek, and while he was there for about 2 minutes, one of the bank employees notified the police. Two officers were waiting for him outside and he handed over the money and the Kalashnikov and then confessed all the problems that led him to this action ," added Maçi.

The suspect is now accused of committing two criminal offenses for which he risks 10 years in prison: Unlicensed Weapon Possession and Armed Robbery.
