Corridor VIII, which starts from the Durrës-Porto Romano port complex and extends towards the Black Sea, has been officially included in NATO's critical military plans and infrastructure, being recognized as a security corridor for the Alliance's collective defense.

The news was announced by the Minister of Defense, Pirro Vengu, at the conclusion of the Ministerial of Defense Ministers of member countries, held in Brussels.

According to the minister, this decision positions Albania as a strategic node in the Euro-Atlantic security architecture and places the country at the center of regional plans and infrastructure investments where NATO will focus in the coming years.

"The inclusion of Corridor VIII is the result of several years of disciplined and sustainable work. It is a concrete achievement that places Albania at the heart of the Alliance's regional plans and priority infrastructures," Vengu emphasized.
