Prime Minister Edi Rama has appointed Afrim Qendron as head of the National Inspectorate of Territorial Protection.

Qendro, until a few days ago, held the position of Prefect of Tirana.

Known as one of Rama's close associates when he headed the Municipality of Tirana, he has held a number of high public and political positions as the SP's electoral coordinator in the Tirana and Vlora Regions, a member of the National Assembly and among the most voted in the Tirana Assembly.

Qendro was initially the head of Enterprise No. 1 in the Municipality of Tirana, then the head of the Construction Inspectorate of Tirana; head of the Albanian Road Authority; deputy mayor of the Municipality of Vlora and finally Prefect of the Tirana District.
