Hunger strike for KEMP in Elbasan, disabled people take the extreme decision

People with disabilities in the Municipality of Elbasan have decided to start a hunger strike. 

They have said that their KEMPs have been stopped for 2 months, while the state, according to them, has not given them any answer about the stoppage of payments. There are about 160 people with disabilities in Elbasan who have not received their KEMP. 

For days they were waiting for an answer from the relevant authorities, and for this reason, around 09:30, they went on a hunger strike.

The recent decisions of the Higher Medical Commission have affected a significant number of people with disabilities throughout Albania.

Based on VKM no. 78, people who have definitive injuries, without prospects of improving their health, are declared permanently disabled and do not have to appear before the Higher Medical Commission. However, the latter seems to have punished the disabled, a good part of whom are heads of families and cannot even afford their medical needs.
