Janis Skafturos and Vasilis Rubetis.

The Greek police have arrested 5 people suspected of being the executioners of two of the most popular mobsters in the country, Janis Skafturos and Vasilis Rubetis.

Both were executed by rival groups. It is known that in addition to the 5 arrested, several other people who have fled abroad have been put on international search.

The Greek police carried out several raids, where two Georgians were arrested, while the homes of three others were raided. They are currently in the Attica police department and are still being interrogated.

It is not known whether they will be arrested or released. Among them is an Albanian, whose name is not made public. The identity of the other two detainees is still unknown. Several arrest warrants have been issued and they belong to the people who participated in the execution of Janis Skafturos (Uncle John), Vasilis Rubetis (Rambo) and Rubeti's brother-in-law (Njonjos), Greek media reports.

It is learned that apart from the five arrested, several other people who have fled the country have also been put under international arrest warrant.

Police sources said that today's arrests are not related to the execution a few days ago of another exponent of the Greek mafia, Vangjelis Zabunis, who was executed with 97 bullets at a gas station owned by him. The operation continues during the following hours.
