PHOTOS/ The first VIEWS from the 6 million Albanian dollar satellites are released in space

The Minister of Defense, Niko Peleshi, said that the satellites that Albania has sent into space can also provide information for private companies that will show interest.

" Once we have built the procedure, we can open it for use by interested private investors ", said the minister during a press conference on Friday, as he reported some decisions taken by the government.

The satellites were launched in January of this year and Peleshi said that the first images were taken. " Every week, at least four days a week, we receive images that are processed by the Agency for Geospatial Information ," he said.

Peleshi said that the images are then processed in a language understandable by each institution, but still, according to him, the process of educating these institutions to understand and put satellite data to use takes time.

“Ne bëjmë takime të disa niveleve të këtyre institucioneve që mund të përdorin imazhet. Gjithë projekti i blerjes së shërbimit satelitor është bërë që në gjeneze në përputhje me interesat e institucioneve”.

Satelitët “Albania 1” dhe “Albania 2” u lëshuan në hapësirë në fillim të këtij viti. Nisja e tyre u bë nga Spache Launch Complex nëpërmjet Falcon 9. Kontrata e Shërbimit Satelitor u nënshkrua në fund të muajit Shtator të vitit 2022.  

Kjo kontratë konsiston në përdorimin ekskluziv të dy satelitëve, për monitorimin e territorit të Republikës së Shqipërisë, zhvillimin e kapaciteteve teknike e profesionale për përdorimin e shërbimit satelitor, përpunimin e Informacionit Gjeo-hapësinor (GIS), si dhe ofrimin e produkteve të imazherisë dhe komponentëve të tjerë të saj.

The duration of use of the satellites will be for a period of 3 years and they will cost the state budget 6 million dollars. The government has described the launching of two satellites into space as another era in the function of law enforcement, and in the function of the fight against corruption.
