Celebrations for the much-hyped wedding of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his partner, Lauren Sanchez, have officially begun with an exclusive dinner in the romantic city of Venice.
The event was held on Thursday evening, June 26, near the iconic Madonna dell'Orto church, in a private setting surrounded by strict security measures.
The couple looked elegant, with Lauren Sanchez wearing a gold Schiaparelli gown and Bezos opting for a classic black suit with a white shirt. They were photographed leaving the luxury Aman hotel, with Bezos helping his fiancée onto the boat before heading to the venue.
The dinner was attended by well-known names from the world of art, fashion and business, including Tom Brady, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kim Kardashian, Orlando Bloom, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Oprah Winfrey, as well as famous designer Tommy Hilfiger and his wife.
Despite the high profile of the guests, the atmosphere was described as “calm and elegant.” The decoration was themed in white and purple, with floral arrangements and piano accompaniment, while the menu was inspired by traditional Italian cuisine.
The couple have asked guests to make donations to local charities in Venice in lieu of gifts. According to sources, around 80% of the wedding supplies were sourced from local producers, in an effort to respect the environment and the community.
In response to the great media interest and concerns of some residents, the mayor of Venice, Luigi Brugnaro, has stated that the organization is being carried out in full cooperation with local authorities and that "any rumors of excesses are unfounded."
The wedding ceremony is expected to take place over the weekend, while the exact details of the event are still being kept secret./panorama
