The State Police also reacted officially to the arrest of businessman Davide Pecorelli, this Saturday afternoon in Italy.

The police say that his arrest was made at the request of the Albanian authorities, with the aim of extraditing the 47-year-old to our country, where he is accused of 5 criminal offences.

"Following the police cooperation with the Italian partners, with the aim of locating and capturing the citizens announced as wanted internationally, this evening, in Perugia, Italy, the Italian Police, based on the requests of the police authorities and Albanian justice, thanks to the exchange of information between the police of the two countries, finalized the coded police operation "Perugia", in the framework of which the Italian citizen Davide Pecorelli, 47 years old, was captured and imprisoned".

The 47-year-old man was wanted internationally, after the Pukë Judicial District Court assigned to him the security measure "Arrest in prison", for the criminal offenses: "Fraud", "Violation of graves", "Actions that hinder the discovery of truth", "Destruction of property by fire" and "Illegal crossing of the state border".

"This citizen, in January 2021, staged the event of his murder and burning of the body. As a result of the in-depth investigations carried out by the investigative structures of the Albanian State Police and the Prosecutor's Office of Puka, in cooperation with the Italian counterparts, it became possible to clarify the incident, as well as to locate the citizen Davide Pecorelli, on an island. The arrest of the 47-year-old, by the Italian Police this evening in Perugia, was made for the purpose of extradition to our country".
