Residents of the village of Kirçisht i Eperm in Dibër have gathered this Saturday to oppose the taking of a water source that originates in the mountain above the village, to supply 15 thousand residents of the Maqellara area.
Residents complain that the municipality has not reached an agreement with them, since the water that the municipality claims to receive for Maqellara is used for irrigation. They do not allow water intake, since in 30 years the municipality has not made any investment.
Currently, 15 thousand residents of Maqellara are supplied with only 1 hour of water in 24 hours. The municipality has made the project and decided to take water flowing from the mountain, above the village of Kirçisht i Epërm, but the residents claim that it is their water and use it for irrigation, writes tch.
These springs are used by three villages for irrigation and for drinking water, but even though there are sufficient quantities, they do not allow the water to go to supply Maqellara and the villages below. The municipality had previously agreed that during the three months of summer the water would be used for irrigation, and the rest would go for drinking water for Maqellara.
