The former elected mayor of Himara, Fredi Beleri, in an interview given in "Pa Censurë", Beleri rejected the claims that a few weeks ago he had saved the life of the former mayor of Kukës, Safet Gjic, in prison.
Beleri said that it was all a lie.
"This is one of the many lies that the media has told about me. No one has tried to kill themselves and I have saved no one. I had correct relations with everyone, friendly relations. This was a big lie. None have tried to kill themselves. I have not known a man so weak that he would try to kill himself ," Beleri said.
He did not spare good words for the socialists only for Gjici, but also for other Socialist Party functionaries who were in prison with him.
He confessed that there were political debates between them, but they still spent time together and had become friends with each other, regardless of the colors of the parties that each represents.
"In the sector where I was, both in Durrës and in Fier, there were detainees, SPAK subjects, political and public figures, who, at first, were tried in the media and in public, then the SPAK comes out and the court certifies it. I was in prison with Mr. Lefter Koka, Safet Gjici, Alqi Blako, the directors of the municipality of Tirana, the mayor of Bulqiza, of Fushë Arrëzi. I didn't know any of them before, but we became friends, since we shared the same environment.
I have a thank you for everyone, as they have respected me and received me in the best way. Even though I was in the minority, I was received very well and respected as a citizen. We also had debates about politics. We often had political debates. Everyone defended their own ideas. There were those who defended the SP, there were those who did not, but they did not blame the SP for being arrested. Their problem was the injustice that came from the lack of legal procedures, from the non-respect of the rule of law that has its source from SPAK , "said Beleri.
