The tense situation in the Middle East has also been reflected outside the region. During the night, a loud explosion was heard near the United States Embassy in Oslo.
Norwegian police said the incident occurred at around 1 a.m. and that investigations are ongoing to determine the cause. No one was injured, authorities said.
"The police are in constant contact with the embassy and no injuries have been reported," an official statement from Norwegian authorities said.
Asked if the explosion was related to a possible attack, the Oslo regional police station explained that there was currently "no information about what exactly happened or who might be involved."
Local media report that the embassy suffered minor damage, while American employees of the diplomatic mission have not commented.
Another police response to Norwegian public broadcaster NRK said the explosion occurred at the public entrance to the building. The US embassy is located in the Morgedalsvegen neighborhood of Oslo, about 7 km (4 miles) outside the city.
