Britain changes its mind, leaves bases to America to use against Iran: Sends helicopters to help

The United States has begun using UK military bases for "specific defensive operations aimed at preventing Iran from launching missiles in the region," the Ministry of Defense in London announced in a post on the X platform.

The announcement comes after days of complaints from US President Donald Trump about what he has described as insufficient cooperation from the British ally.

The UK has also deployed a Merlin helicopter to the region to bolster surveillance activities, the statement said. Meanwhile, Royal Air Force Typhoon and F-35 jets continue to patrol the airspace over Cyprus, Jordan and Qatar.
