New details come to light about the serious incident that occurred in the province of Cuneo, Italy, where 36-year-old Albanian, Gjovalin Lazri , lost his life .
According to preliminary expert reports, the distance from which the shooting was carried out is suspected to have been less than 14 meters. Roberto Mollo, 35, the owner of the apartment where the Albanian entered to steal, is being investigated for the incident.
During the examination, 12 shell casings were found collected in a single area of the apartment. This element is being analyzed by experts to determine the position from which the shots were fired and the trajectory of the bullets. Three flashlights were also found at the scene, one of them near the body of the 36-year-old Albanian.
According to the investigators' preliminary reconstruction, Mollo was awakened by noises coming from outside and then went out onto the first-floor balcony.
From this position, according to the investigation's hypothesis, he fired at the lights of the people on the property. One of the bullets hit Lazri in the neck, causing the fatal wound.
The ballistics examination lasted more than five hours and aimed to determine the trajectories of the bullets, the distance of the shots and the positions of the people at the time of the incident. For this reason, test shots and simulations were also carried out at the scene.
Experts from the prosecution, Roberto Mollo's defense and the victim's family are involved in the investigation. The Asti prosecution is continuing its investigations to clarify the full dynamics of the incident, while Mollo is under investigation for murder.
Investigators are expected to return to the scene at night to verify lighting and visibility conditions in a situation as similar as possible to that of the night when the incident occurred.
The incident occurred in the early hours of September 20, when several people allegedly entered the Mollo family's property.
After the shooting, the 35-year-old called the emergency number 112 himself and informed the authorities that he had shot a person, claiming that he had acted in self-defense.
The investigation continues to determine the exact dynamics of the event and the responsibilities of the people involved.
