The Constitutional Court has rejected the request of a group of Democratic Party deputies regarding the procedure for electing the People's Advocate, Endrit Shabani.

The Constitutional Court says that Shabani can continue to hold the position of Ombudsman.

After the decision, Shabani reacted by declaring that he will respect the decision of the Constitutional Court.

The Ombudsman respects the decision of the Constitutional Court, which, at the request of a group of deputies, verified the procedure followed by the Assembly for the election of the head of the institution and found that it is in accordance with the Constitution.

In this case, the Ombudsman maintained impartiality towards the petitioners and the Assembly by not taking a position on the merits of the case and entrusting the assessment entirely to the Court, which has the final interpretation of the Constitution.
