The services of the Tirana Local Police Directorate clarify that during the anti-drug operation in the Kruja mountains, to discover and destroy cannabis plots, there was no armed attack on the officers.
The reported shooting was not an attack against the State Police, but rather one of the officers from one of the control groups fired into the air to ward off the danger posed by wild animals.
Police services were divided into several groups, in different areas, and when they heard the shots, due to the lack of telephone waves, communication with other control groups was impossible and initially, it was suspected that someone had shot them.
According to the announcement, it turns out that at around 11:30, a police officer, part of one of the control groups, in a forested mountainous area of the Cudhi Administrative Unit, fired a gun into the air to remove the danger from wild animals in the forest.
With the clarification of the case and the completion of legal documentation of the case, the Police services continue field checks to identify and crack down on cases of cultivation of narcotic plants. Up to now, around 300 cannabis plants have been identified and destroyed.
