A 37-year-old Albanian man in Italy has been sentenced to a summary sentence of 8 years, 10 months and 20 days in prison after he attempted to kill his father last November, an incident that occurred in Genoa.

Just a week after the incident, he ended up in handcuffs.

At the moment of the attack, the 37-year-old stabbed his father in the stomach and attempted to do it again, but the victim managed to escape and later ended up in the hospital, in serious condition.

After that, the perpetrator locked himself in the house and, with a knife in his hand, threatened his brother via video call.

The attempted murder was preceded by numerous episodes of violence against family members and, according to the prosecutor, was a consequence of cocaine addiction. When the security measure was assigned to him, the 37-year-old denied that he had intended to stab his father and apologized, but this was not enough to alleviate the circumstances.

In his family, he is the only one who has not obtained Italian citizenship and after his sentence, he will be deported from the country./ANSA
