Igli Tare, former captain of the Albanian National Team and sports director for many years at Lazio, has recently given an interview to "Corriere della Sera". He spoke about leaving this club after 18 years, the difficult relationship with Sarri, other Italian football topics and the June 15 Albania-Italy match.

"I travel a lot, study and update myself, because if you don't, you risk being left behind and not understanding the world of football anymore", says Tare, who always has a suitcase in his hands. "That's the only way you can find out who is the best, who is ahead. England with the Premier League, of course, but also Germany. Apart from Bayern Munich, what Bayer Leverkusen has done is incredible. A great coach, Xabi Alonso, a very organized club with an exceptional infrastructure", adds Tare.

What about Italy?

The football school is not discussed, the value of the coaches is a known fact all over the world. But at the organizational level it is light years behind. My little son is 11 years old, he plays for Lazio. As a parent who accompanies him, I understand the difficulties of families and their sacrifices. A big football club should work on this part, have an organization that facilitates the involvement of families. This is how champions can be born, otherwise you risk losing a lot. Fortunately it's Euro 2030, but it's not just the construction of stadiums, we need the infrastructure that makes a great club, starting with the youth.

Tell us the truth, did you leave Lazio from Sarri?

No, absolutely. Much has been written about this part, but it is not so. I spoke with Lotito, after 18 years the moment had come to leave in the right way. Without friction, Lazio is in my heart. But I have to look around, learn and know other realities.

But Sarri is not an easy guy, it has nothing to do with your departure?

It is true that he will do things his way, it does not change. I've never been busy with it, but it's not easy. He has his own way of conceiving football and work. Even Lotito is like him, a president with a strong character. Sometimes I played the 'lightning rod', it's part of a manager's job, but my time at Lazio had come to an end. Sarri has nothing to do with it.

How can you build a great team?

You have to study a lot, understand under a certain moment what is missing, where you need to improve. It is a mosaic and all the pieces have to be in the right place. It also takes patience to wait for a talent that doesn't explode immediately.

This season, Inter and Juventus look at another level...

Yes, it's them and then Milan and Napoli. Napoli has grown and it is the merit of a great coach like Luciano Spaleti, who increased the value of many players last season.

Are you going to Naples, as there are rumours?

I haven't talked to anyone, so the answer is no. Then in football everything happens in a moment. Look what happens in Italy: Mancini leaves and Spalletti comes. Our world is very fast, it concerns economic offers, but also club projects. I'm waiting for the right offer.

Italy-Albania will be played on June 15 in Dortmund. Who do you root for?

Three quarters for Albania and one quarter for Italy. Because the connection of us Albanians with your country is strong. You will see, on that day there will be 80 thousand people singing the anthem of Mamel, including the Albanians. It happened in Genoa 9 years ago.

We have a special relationship with Italy, which is hard to explain how deep it is. But be careful from Albania, because it is growing a lot and for Italy it will be a difficult match. Spalleti is good, I know.
