Elina Xhengo arrived at her home in Thessaloniki where the local residents gave her a warm welcome. At the "Macedonia" airport, fans and many fans present created a fiery atmosphere for the 20-year-old.
The European javelin champion of Albanian origin and Greek citizenship who ranked first with the best attempt of 65.81 meters, was received by friends, family and friends of the village where she has lived since her birth in 2002 by her parents Albanians who had emigrated in the 90s like many other Albanians.

She thanked everyone for their support:
"You made my dream 100 times more beautiful", said the champion who a few hours ago admitted that she had also received unfriendly messages because of her origin.
She added: "I dedicate this success to all the children who manage to climb to the top through many sacrifices. Thanks to those people who appreciate the sacrifices and obstacles that young people have in life."
At the airport along with dozens of other people, Elina was also surprised by the presence of her sister, who works on the remote island of Santorini, but traveled to meet the champion and her sister.
She and her father were excited about the achievement of Elina, who today is considered the future of Hellenic athletics.
