The ceremony in honor of Luiza Gegë, who was declared the European champion in athletics in the 3000 m hurdles race in Germany, is being held on the boulevard 'Dëshmorët e Kombit'.

Luiza Gega was welcomed by hundreds of citizens with national flags who greeted the champion.

The European champion has arrived in a red Cabriolet car at Dëshmorët e Kombit boulevard, where a reception ceremony is being held in her honor.

She could not contain her emotions and burst into tears as she was applauded by the many citizens who came out to meet her. In the car, there was also the coach of the athlete Taulant Stërmasi.

On Saturday, Luiza Gega produced a brilliant performance in the final of the 3000 meters steeplechase, clocking 9 minutes, 11 seconds and 31 fifths. As a result of this performance, Gega left behind the German Meyer, who also had the support of the public, given that the European championship takes place in Munich. An extraordinary achievement by Gega, who also set a European record improved by almost 6 seconds. In the end, the tears of the champion were not missing.

The red and black athlete returned to her homeland the day before, where she was received in Rinas by the Minister of Education and Sports Evis Kushi and the president of KOKSH, Fidel Ylli.

Albanian athlete Gega considered her achievements to be hard work and full of sacrifices, saying that she will not stop and that she is proud of the colors of the flag she represents. Wearing a gold medal, Luiza Gega said that she managed to show Europe that even Albanians can succeed.

For Luiza Gegë, this was only the last success, since almost 1 month ago she ranked fifth in the world, another unthinkable result in Albanian athletics. Moreover, at the beginning of July, Gega won the gold medal in the Mediterranean Games held in Algeria.
