The Ukrainian championship is back, more than eight months after the last matches played in the country, in December 2021.

With the war still raging in the country, football returns to broadcast a sign of hope and serve as a means that things in Ukraine are returning to normal.

On the eve of the Independence Day, the players of both teams and the referee performed with Ukrainian flags. Then it was the turn of the national anthem and a message from President Volodymyr Zelensky.

To play the ball representing the return of the Ukrainian championship, a young soldier from the Azov battalion, wounded in the war, was invited. When the soldier turned his back after giving the symbolic start, Shakhtar's 21-year-old striker Danylo Sikan shed tears. An exciting moment.
