The fifth title of 2024, Real Madrid's second of the season and the 15th for Blancos coach Carlo Ancelotti at the helm of the club: no one like him. The Intercontinental Cup final, won 3-0 against Pachuca, was decided by goals from Mbappé, Rodrygo and Vinicius
Real Madrid have won the 2024 Intercontinental Cup with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Mexican side Pachuca at the Lusail Stadium in Doha, Qatar. Goals from Mbappé, Rodrygo and Vinicius (penalty) secured the fifth title of 2024 and the second of the current season for “Los Blancos”.
This trophy is part of Real Madrid's attempt to achieve a historic "seven", as they are in contention for seven competitions during the 2024-2025 season.
The triumph was also a proud moment for Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti, who became the most successful coach in the club's history. He now has 15 trophies won as Real Madrid coach, surpassing Miguel Muñoz, who had won 14 trophies in 605 games. Ancelotti achieved this record in just 316 games, winning a trophy every 21 games. In total, Ancelotti has now won 30 trophies in his coaching career (or 31, including the 1999 Intertoto Cup with Juventus).
Carlo Ancelotti in history
This is the ninth Intercontinental Cup or Club World Cup title for Real Madrid, including four Intercontinental Cup trophies and five Club World Cups, both of which are absolute records. For Italian Ancelotti, this is a success that comes 35 years after his first triumph as a player with Milan, when he won the Intercontinental Cup in 1989 against Colombians Nacional.
