Fear and panic at Bournemouth's Vitality Stadium, where the Premier League match between home and away Luton was halted in the 62nd minute after away team captain Tom Lockyer collapsed on the pitch.

The players were led off the pitch by referee Simon Hooper and after a lengthy delay Bournemouth's staff doctor confirmed Lockyer was "alert and responsive".

This is the second time the 29-year-old Welshman has been knocked unconscious on the pitch, having previously collapsed in the Sky Bet Championship play-off final earlier this year.

Meanwhile, shortly after today's incident Luton manager Rob Edwards rushed onto the pitch as players surrounded Lockyer before medics carried him off on a stretcher after first treating him on the pitch for more than 10 minutes.

Half an hour after the incident, the match was officially suspended. The Luton club then wrote on their official social media account: "We're all with you, Locks."

Just a week ago, the Luton defender spoke to Sky Sports about the play-off incident revealing he had experienced atrial fibrillation, a type of heart arrhythmia, and had since undergone a procedure to treat it.
