Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso has been rumored for a return to Real Madrid for some time. But now the Spanish journalist, Matias Prats, says that there is no doubt that the Spaniard will be in charge of Real Madrid next season.
Alonso has done an impressive job since taking over as Leverkusen coach in October last year.
His good results have not gone unnoticed, and Real Madrid are said to be interested in appointing him as their next manager.
Spanish journalist Prats goes so far as to say that he is absolutely certain that 41-year-old Alonso will return to the club he represented as a player as a coach next season.
"The favorite to replace (Carlo) Ancelotti is Xabi Alonso. I have no doubt that he will be their next coach", said Prats for "Radio Marca".
Alonso spent five years at Real Madrid, making 236 appearances with 6 goals and 31 assists.
