After Agron Kapllanaj for the Municipality of Fier, Alibeaj's group has announced another candidate for the local elections of May 14, 2023.

It is about Ilirian Koxhajn, who will run for the municipality of Kuçova. During an interview in MCN, Koxhaj stated that he hopes to find a language to come up with a candidate in the May 14 elections, but emphasized that he will not withdraw from the race under any circumstances.

He said that he joined the "Alibeaj" group because he believes that Albania exists thanks to the support of the USA. Koxhaj adds that he has respect for Berisha's past, but the time has come for new leadership.

Koxhaj points out that the two groups within the PD should unite without seeking vassalage to each other.

"We in Kučovo have tried several times to unite, to have a single candidate, but we should not ask for vassalage to each other. We need a natural union, not by giving up a group. In the Democrats, it what unites us is greater than what divides us. I believe that the union will come through two people who have this job in hand. We must see that our opponent is not the Alibeaj grouping and the Rithamelim grouping, but Edi Rama. I will not withdraw from the candidacy no matter what the situation. I do not count the votes, I do not see my citizens converted into votes. I will not withdraw from the race even if there are two candidates, which I do not wish for." .

He said that there is no communication with Basha, but added that at a second moment people and time may demand his return. However, Koxhaj emphasized that at the moment he sees Alibeaj in a stronger position than Basha.

"I have not been in communication with Mr. Basha. I do not serve a single person, I serve the PD, my fellow citizens. I have not had any other meetings with Mr. Alibeaj, apart from the one in the College of Presidents. He has made it clear to himself. He has taken a step back. Maybe in a second moment, the people themselves, time itself will demand his return. But I don't see that Mr. Basha is active, I see that Mr. Alibeaj has taken leadership positions, and I see him in a good position. I am optimistic that people will know how to decide, make a difference, May 14 will divide two worlds for Albanians".
