Bajram Bega is officially the 8th President of the Republic of Albania. He was voted in the fourth round of this Saturday's plenary session by a majority vote.
83 deputies took part in the voting. Initially, 103 deputies were present in the hall.
The session was accompanied by debates, as Sali Berisha asked for the floor for the procedure and was not given it. After this moment he left the hall together with his deputies.
Berisha accused the decree signed in Istanbul by President Ilir Meta, regarding the dismissal of Bajram Begaj from the post of Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces and the rank of Major General.
The session was boycotted by the group of deputies of Enkelejd Alibeaj.
