At a conference being held with US and EU energy companies, US Ambassador to Tirana Yuri Kim said energy security is closely linked to national security.

This, according to Kim, is shown even more clearly in this war situation, where Russia makes constant threats. The diplomat added that the Russian occupation of Ukraine has made clear the need to diversify energy sources. She stressed that now is the time to act.

"We are gathered together for energy security. We have all seen that the unprovoked and unjustified invasion by Russia has made it clear that energy diversification can not wait. We need to have more pipelines. The US and Europe are facing a new reality with new challenges. Today I hope we develop real ideas.

Energy security has been linked to national security and what we are experiencing today makes it even more visible.

Find new ways forward for energy and climate security. This is one of the main reasons why the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline was built.
