The US Embassy has reacted regarding the extension of visas for Albanians to 10 years. Ambassador Yuri Kim writes that there has been an increase in visa applications, which has led to long waits for interviews.

Kim points out that embassy staff are working to resolve this issue, adding that in cases of real emergencies ( for example, medical treatment, family death, student programs or fixed-term exchange ), expedited processing should be required when applied.

" After the announcement of the 10-year US visa for Albania and the easing of COVID travel restrictions, there has been an increase in visa applications, which has led to long waits for interviews. We know this is frustrating and our consular team is working hard to reduce the wait time.

In the event of a real emergency (for example, medical treatment, family death, student programs or fixed-term exchange), please request expedited processing when applying. You can also write to [email protected] AFTER applying to request acceleration, ”writes Yuri Kim.
