MP Marjana Koçeku has reacted to the amount of 4 million euros that the government allocated for Kanye West's concert.
Koçek has criticized the government for this recent decision, citing as evidence the disaster that, according to her, occurred a year ago due to fires.
"I have seen firsthand the extraordinary damage done to nature," writes Koçek a year after last summer's fires, adding further that due to high temperatures, the situation is expected to be more alarming this year.
Therefore, for this reason she emphasizes that this 4 million euro fund should have been invested in fire prevention and strengthening emergency capacities, and not in the construction of a "single-use" stadium, where West will perform on Saturday night.
"Last year our country went through a fire disaster. I have seen firsthand the extraordinary damage done to nature. This year the situation is expected to be even more alarming due to high temperatures."
The 4 million euros of a single-use stadium should have been invested in fire prevention, supporting residents, and strengthening emergency capacities.
"State and accountability are not replaced by spectacle. The loss of nature is the loss of Albania," writes Koçek.
