The National Council of the Democratic Party will convene today. It was the Re-establishment Commission that announced the day before through Edi Paloka the meeting of this body.

The new National Council was elected in the Assembly on April 30, organized by "Rithemelimi" and former Prime Minister Sali Berisha.

Paloka announced that the National Council will meet at 18.00 and during this meeting will be elected chairman of this body of the DP.

He also said that they will take a stand for the election of the new president of the country.

At the same time, the Assembly of April 30 seems to have deepened the rift between the parties in the blue headquarters, although after March 6 there were attempts and rhetoric for unification.

"Rithemelimi" does not recognize Enkelejd Alibeaj as chairman of the parliamentary group, after they voted to dismiss him in the Assembly. Consequently, the deputies who support this party and who are part of the commission boycotted the meeting convened by Alibeaj yesterday to discuss the issue of the president.

CALL FOR THE NATIONAL COUNCIL MEETING

- The Temporary Re-establishment Commission, exercising the competencies of the Presidency of the DPA and the President has decided to convene the first meeting of the National Council on May 6 at 18.00 in the Headquarters of the DPA. - The purpose of the meeting, in addition to the constitution of the National Code is to determine a political position of the DPA regarding the process of electing the President of the Republic.

- Based on Article 44 point 5 of the Statute, the meeting had to be held at least 5 days from the convening, but due to the urgent nature of the issue being addressed, the Temporary Re-establishment Commission decided that the meeting be held tomorrow afternoon. - The National Council of DPA is the only body that can determine the unified position of DPA on an important political issue, such as the election of the President of the Republic, as according to the statute he is the highest body that directs the activity DPA policies in the period between the two Assemblies. - Based on article 44 point 4 of the Statute, in the first meeting of the constitution of the National Council, the chairman of the national council is elected among at least 2 alternative candidacies.

Yesterday, at the invitation of Enkelejd Alibeaj, the Parliamentary group of the Democratic Party convened. In that meeting which started at 17:00, only 19 Democrat deputies were present. MP Ervin Salianji said during the closed-door meeting that it could not even be called a group meeting because it did not meet the quorum. Alibeaj said that in total the DP has 36 members and that 22 deputies were more than enough to gather the group.
