"In Tirana, dozens of buildings damaged by the earthquake were demolished, especially in Units 4 and 6, which are the two most affected areas. If a state institution, which is called the Construction Institute, has given the verdict that this building is of category DS5, not only in Tirana, but also in Durrës, also in Fushë Krujë, also in Thumanë and any other area affected by the earthquake, automatically, it is the obligation of the local government to do several things: First, to demolish the building, secondly, to give rent bonuses to the residents, so as not to leave them out, and thirdly, to give them a new house. Only after they have received the new house, the residents who have no other accommodation, the rent bonus is cut off, in order to get into the new house," said Veliaj in an interview for Top News.

He said that the policy is harming the residents in this case as well, luring them with protests, since those who signed have already taken shelter in the new apartments.

Some of them I had the opportunity to visit personally, they have been accommodated in the new houses for a year. They trusted the state, the government, they trusted the municipality. Initially for the rent bonus and as soon as the apartments were ready, they moved into their new homes and are enjoying them today. The New Year will find them at home more comfortable than the ones they left. I believe that when we trust the authorities, when we cooperate to overcome these difficult situations, we move forward. If the vaccine is politicized, if reconstruction is politicized and if everything is politicized and for the sake of party ideals people forget the ideal of the family, there is very little that the municipality can do,

He specified that the building that collapsed today has been out of order since 2019. It was reassessed in 2020-2021 again by the Construction Institute, which gave the same result.

It's your municipality, it's your city, it's your state. Groups come and go, particles come and go.
