Prime Minister Edi Rama, during his speech at the General Assembly of the Council of Europe, underlined that international institutions cannot fail in terms of law and facts, as the consequences for the states would be fatal.
He said that he went there to talk not about Albania, but about a country that is connected like flesh and soul with Albania.
" A fundamental issue of truth and justice that requires us to reflect together, I have not come here to talk mainly about Albania, the topic of concern that I want to share is related to Albania as body and soul.
It is related to a country with its past and the impact it can have on the future. On the role that Europe and institutions play in the way they develop these relations. It requires courage from leaders, and shared trust in international institutions.
If they fail to provide justice, the loss to us is as great as the harm done to each individual victim, the harm goes far, it is harm to our entire community of peoples and nations, a blow to efforts to turn the dark page of history . If the institutions fail this blow can be fatal.
For you the war is a distant memory, for us a wound that still hurts as we try to heal it. Under the big umbrella of this institution that defines itself as the leading organization on the continent for human rights, facts should not be affected by power games and solutions should stand the test of the future.
Albania is building close relations with Serbia, which not long ago was considered a mortal enemy, but is now an important partner in our Open Balkans initiative. Europe for us is an existential project. Never before has history been kind to us. Others decided for us," declared Rama
In his speech at KiE, Prime Minister Edi Rama addressed the audience saying that the time has come for Kosovo to be written as "Kosova", as its name is, and not as "Kosovo".
"There are nations in the history of the world that live their whole lives defending their freedom, surrounded by violence and lies or international hypocrisy that makes magic, they hope to resist as long as they can, this is the case of Ukraine, and this is the case of Kosovo a few decades ago. How diligent is Putin to remove parallels between Crimea and Kosovo, the evidence does not support it, there is no parallel between Kosovo and Crimea, but between Ukraine and Kosovo, start teaching other international organizations to write Kosovo not Kosovo is the Republic of Kosovo", said Rama.
