The Conference of Presidents convenes today to set the date for the third round of the election of the President.
The conference will be held at 2:30 p.m. So far, no name for President has been proposed in the Assembly, making the first two ballots considered complete.
Yesterday, the second ballot in the Albanian Parliament was burned due to the lack of candidacies.
Last Wednesday, the agreement between the opposition and the majority was violated. Alibeaj stated that the agreement had been violated, claiming that it provided for the proposal of those 4 candidates, from which, the Socialists would select two and then, together, would decide on the name that would be supported as a candidacy by both parties.
But the Socialists on the other hand raised the claim that they had never accepted such a formula that excluded them from the right to propose a candidacy for president. The leader of the socialist group Taulant Balla stated that they had agreed that until the third round it would be the opposition to propose. After yesterday's session, Alibeaj stated that he stood by his proposal, which, as he stressed, guaranteed the country a president who was neither one nor the other party.
Prime Minister Edi Rama stated that “We will wait for the third round. If it will be the same result. we will gather and talk with the SP leadership, then with the parliamentary group, then in the hall ".
