Interior Minister Taulant Balla has proposed that the citizens of Kosovo and North Macedonia who have the Albanian language as their official language should not undergo a test on the Albanian language and history in order to obtain citizenship.
"We demand that the citizens of Kosovo who have an official language, speak the language as well as we do and know our history as well as we do, do not have to undergo a test on language or knowledge of history. In this perspective, an exception will be made for countries where the Albanian language is the official language".
He added that in North Macedonia "the Albanian language is the official language, so all the brothers and sisters who will seek Albanian citizenship, this will be possible".
"I would call this decision-making historic, to advance a responsibility that the mother country has for those who apply for passports with naturalization", said Balla.
