The Fiscal Amnesty raised concerns from international partners such as the European Commission and the American Chamber of Commerce, and for them, Rama has an answer: Lack of respect.
We have followed the criticism against the amnesty with great attention. For this reason, I have invited with me the deputy secretary of the council of ministers who is also a lawyer to make a brief presentation of these most essential criticisms and our version in relation to these criticisms. I want to say some things that may not have been touched on.
I want to remind everyone first of all you and the internationals
The world is at war, Albania is part of this war and unlike many other countries, Albania has made a decision, at a very high cost, a cost which, if the war lasts beyond a certain limit, will become unaffordable. This bill, which is approaching 500 euros per megawatt before the 50 that was before the war, should not be reflected in the energy bill of families and small businesses. Where does this money come from?
While we are aware that our first package for those most affected by inflation has not solved the whole problem, the problem continues. The idea of amnesty is an old idea and has never materialized. Albania, at the time when amnesty was in practice, was not in the right conditions from a structural point of view. We didn't think about it today, we thought about it since the first day 9 years ago. But we proposed because we knew that the time had not come, just as the time had not come for medical cannabis. We did it after a big disaster like the earthquake happened.
Coming to Albania and saying that amnesty is not acceptable is a lack of respect, I say to my partners and friends: mutual respect is the A of my work in the function of the Republic of Albania. Any objection and idea can be made with respect . - said Rama.
