Chaos in Tirana Municipality / Veliaj does not accept Ristan's return to office, refuses to sign from prison

The Municipality of Tirana has been in collapse for 24 hours, as none of its senior leaders, who are in the office today, have the authority to sign orders and decisions on behalf of the mayor, Veliaj, who is in prison.

It all started after Veliaj issued a second order to transfer his powers to Sara Goxhaj, while until now these powers were exercised by Anuela Ristani.

Prime Minister Rama did not agree with the order signed by Veliaj and went to the Municipality on Wednesday evening to communicate to Goxhaj the dismissal from office and the return to this position of Ristan.

But legally, Veliaj's decision was recorded and the return of powers to Ristani had to be done again with his signature.

Sources report that Mayor Veliaj was sent letters to prison again to sign for Anuela Ristani to assume the powers of mayor, but he refused to sign.

It is learned that he did not agree to sign even the name of Jonida Halili, who was proposed to be appointed Secretary General instead of Alban Dokushi.

Under these conditions, the Municipality of Tirana has not been able to produce any documents since yesterday, as none of the senior officials has the authority to sign on behalf of Veliaj. / Top Channel
