Socialist Party MP Eduard Shalsi has commented on the protest that has been taking place for several days in front of the Prime Minister's Office on "Dëshmorët e Kombit" Boulevard.
He emphasized that the majority has never denied the existence of a healthy portion of citizens participating in protests, but has also pointed out unacceptable elements.
"Protests are information and should be analyzed by the government. Each of us is reflecting and regardless of the numbers, we are reflecting, because democracy is not harmed by protests."
Shalsi stated that from the beginning, Prime Minister Edi Rama and the majority MPs have spoken about healthy protesters, but also about another part that has appeared with vulgarities, banality and primitive language, recalling past times.
"In no case have we denied the protesters, on the contrary we have acknowledged that there is a healthy portion of the population that is participating."
"A political force does not have to be afraid of protests, but the problem is when political forces are afraid of protests, because this has proven to be a failure. What should scare us is indifference, not protests," he told RTSH.
The socialist MP added that the majority was not at all indifferent, but noted that some of the protesters did not agree with the behavior of the rest:
"A political force, like the one I belong to, has no reason to be afraid of protests. The problem is when political forces are afraid of protests, because they have been proven to have failed. What should scare us is indifference, not protests."
He mentioned vulgar speeches, attempts to block Rinas airport, and ugly displays, emphasizing that these elements have caused the protests to shrink in numbers.
"We have seen vulgar speeches, we have seen protesters heading towards Rinas, we have seen characters who came to the fore but were masked behind flags. There we had characters from political parties who took advantage of the opportunity to enter the protest and as they later proved, they drove away the healthy part of the protesters."
"We have seen characters who came to the fore, but were masked behind flags, as well as figures from political parties who took advantage of the opportunity to enter the protest, alienating the healthy part of it," Shalsi added.
According to him, the protests are a source of information that should be analyzed by the government, because each of the MPs reflects regardless of the numbers.
"Democracy is not harmed by protests. On the contrary, they are a signal that must be taken seriously and analyzed," Shalsi concluded.
