Blinken calls French Foreign Minister: Paris to support Albania's

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, in his congratulatory phone call to French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian - on the victory of Emmanuel Macron in the presidential election - discussed the integration of Albania and Northern Macedonia.

According to the US State Department, the secretary and foreign minister spoke of intensifying support for these two countries on the European path.

The two also discussed providing assistance and security to Ukraine's armed forces.

The United States has often stressed that the Western Balkans belong to the European Union and has called for membership talks with Albania and northern Macedonia to begin without delay.

US officials have also stressed that EU membership will help the countries of the Western Balkans consolidate democratic institutions, protect fundamental rights and enforce the rule of law.
