The head of the DP Sali Berisha participated today in the conferences "Women candidates and winners" and "Winning team of a successful campaign" for local leaders of the city of Tirana.
Berisha declared that we have a government based on scandals, accusing Prime Minister Edi Rama of returning the typical model of Enver Hoxha for the SP elections.
He said that like never before in these 30 years, the hand of the government reached out to the opposition and the impression was created among Albanians that Edi Rama is impossible, he cannot win and the opposition, so to speak, makes him fresh.
" We are in the third mandate in the opposition, this is not because of the merits of the government, but because of the weakness of the opposition. We have had and have a scandal-based government. This journey of the opposition in these years has been a numbing journey.
As never before in these 30 years, the hand of the government reached out to the opposition and the impression was created among Albanians that Edi Rama is impossible, he cannot win and the opposition, so to speak, makes him fresh. In this context, PD was faced with the alternative 'to be or not to be', to exist or to merge. But I think that it should exist because over 620 thousand Albanians voted for it in the last elections.
But for it to exist, it had to change radically. A completely changed party must be presented to the Albanians, otherwise they have no reason to trust us. In a year of extraordinary efforts, we have succeeded, we have marked substantial achievements to present the changed party to the Albanians" , said Berisha.
He further emphasized that the DP has "decided the vote and will of our members as determining for the local and central leaders of the DP".
" In these years, you have witnessed that what was destroyed in the most catastrophic way is the vote. The vote in Albanian society, violated by the government which presented itself as an electoral state in every electoral campaign. It featured gangs, drug money, crime, vote buying. But we must accept indisputably that the vote was suppressed and suffered great deformations even in the opposition.
Today, the SP no longer votes for any of its elected officials. Finally, Edi Rama removed the vote for the presidents of SP branches and returned the typical model of Enver Hoxha, in which he was the first secretary of the Central Committee and the Political Bureau that appointed in the districts. These voting attitudes affected our party. I believe that together we set a new standard this year by voting.
We have voted more this year than any other party and more than ever in our history. We have done well, we have presented ourselves in this context as a changed party. We set the primaries, for the election of local governors, to the best standards. They will be elected by our members and supporters and we put an end to the chairmanship as a sure way to avoid autocracy in the party and in the country in the future ", declared Berisha.
