At the proposal of the mayor Erion Veliaj, the City Council of Tirana has approved the awarding of the title of "Honorary Citizen" to the chairman of the Democratic Union for Integration, Ali Ahmeti.
This title was granted to Ali Ahmeti as a sign of thanks for all his contribution to the Albanian community of North Macedonia.
Ali Ahmeti is one of the most important figures in the political and social scene of the Western Balkans. Amid applause, Ahmeti said that Tirana has kept everyone in its bosom.
"This mother, Tirana, was poor, but she kept us warm in her bosom. There are hundreds of martyrs, heroes of the nation, that my mother held here in her lap.
A word of a wise old man told us "don't thank each other, because you all worked in your field, only "good job" can be said for the work done".
Albania has shared bread, salt and heart with us. When we started the activity, we started for the unification of the Albanian lands. Dear Edi, you also have Skenderbeu in the center of Tirana, but I also have it in old Skopje," he said.
