A day earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky urged the Albanian state to close its borders to Ukrainian tourists. Regarding this request, Prime Minister Edi Rama spoke for the first time, stating that such a decision has not yet been taken by the European Union, if the latter takes such a decision, then Albania will take it.
"Our decisions are aligned with EU decisions, as long as there is no EU-aligned decision we have continued the same path. "If there is a linear decision, we will follow the same path," Rama told reporters after the meeting of the Socialist Party leadership.
Tomorrow is the Donors' Conference in Warsaw, regarding the aid that will be provided to Ukraine. Prime Minister Edi Rama indicated that Albania will also help with a monetary figure, but without specifying the figure.
"It will be monetary aid for Ukraine," Rama said.
Regarding the report of the organization "Reporters without Borders", which ranks Albania 20 places lower than last year for press freedom, Rama said that he trusts only the EU report, adding that he does not find the media situation in Albania worrying. as no journalist was threatened last year.
"In no country in the region, the media do not have the freedom they have in Albania. There is no report on this. There is no ball that plays this regardless of what the reports say. If you want, you can start with the EU report where a group all people work for the report based on facts and arguments, not on perceptions and agendas.
With all due respect, but in these years of reading I have learned to be selective that some of these reports are not credible. I do not see any concern for the situation of the media in Albania, except that every day the victims of abuse, slander, fabrications, bullying are increasing, while last year there was no trial against any journalist, there was no journalist threatened. "Whoever makes the reports has undeclared data, I would ask him to make this data available", said Rama.
As for the reports on organized crime, he said that he does not believe in anything that has no facts.
"I have seen many of these reports, but the facts are important to me and you have them in all the reports and progress of the EU and from the progress of the fight against crime, drugs. Freedom of the media and free reports are an issue that has the problem of "everywhere, even in Germany," Rama said.
