Turkish Vice President Omer Celik reacted in disgust to the series Famagusta, which is expected to air on Netflix on September 20.

Celik says the series, which claims to be based on true events, distorts reality and presents Greek propaganda about what happened in Cyprus.

Famagusta follows the drama of a young Greek couple in the summer of 1974 who lost their child during the invasion of the Turkish military forces in the Cypriot city, now known as Gazimagusa.

"It is very disturbing that from September 20th a series that distorts the 1974 Cyprus peace operation and propagandates the Greek side will be broadcast on a film platform.

We cannot accept that the intervention that brought peace and established justice becomes the target of Greek propaganda through this series. "The cyprus peace operation, heroic Turkish soldiers, peace and justice cannot be targeted," Celik wrote.
