The mayor is killed in Mexico 16 days after his election to office!

The mayor of a community in southern Mexico, who had just been elected in June 2 elections, was killed Monday near Acapulco.

Salvador Villalba Flores , part of the local party México Avanza ("Forward Mexico", of the center left), was killed on the Acapulco-Pinotepa highway.

Usually the victim was accompanied by members of the National Guard, but according to El Sur newspaper, he was unaccompanied at the time he was killed.

The perpetrators took the elected mayor from the bus he was traveling on and executed him.

Salvador Villalba Flores decided to run after the assassination of his friend Jesus Gonzalez Ríos , leader of the Greens (Partido Verde) in Copala on June 29, 2023.
