Video filmed inside a taxi, showing a 19-year-old man, who cold-bloodedly shoots the driver of the vehicle three times in the back, has shocked Turkey.
The event happened on the evening of January 31 in Izmir, when 44-year-old Oguz Erge took the 19-year-old in his taxi. The young man at the end of the journey asks him "how much the road costs" and before the 44-year-old can answer, he pulls out his pistol and shoots him three times.
Before leaving, he pretends to ask for money in his pocket and says sarcastically '221 lira, brother'. Later in the video, the 19-year-old is seen sitting in the passenger seat, asking the taxi for money and telling the 44-year-old that he "shouldn't trust everyone".
The Turkish Minister of Health announced that the 44-year-old taxi driver was taken seriously injured to the hospital and died a few hours later. After police were notified, officers reviewed 110 hours of footage from 70 security cameras and eventually found the 19-year-old.
As it turned out from the police investigations, when the 44-year-old stopped to pick up the 19-year-old, he seemed worried by the fact that the young man was masked.
"I'm sick, that's why I wear it", said the young man.
The taxi driver told him: "No one will take you in a taxi if you wear a mask." But should we leave people on the streets in such weather? It's freezing."
