The head of the board of directors of Lukoil, Vladimir Nekrasov, died suddenly at the age of 66. The news was announced by the Russian oil company, as reported by the Russian media agency "Tass".

"It is with deep regret that we announce the sudden death of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of PJSC Lukoil, Vladimir Ivanovich Nekrasov. "According to the preliminary conclusion of the doctors, the death occurred as a result of acute heart failure," the announcement states.

Born in 1957, Nekrasov had worked in the oil and gas industry for nearly 50 years.

The former head of Lukoil's board, Ravil Maganov, died in September 2022 after falling from a hospital window in Moscow.

Several Russian businessmen, most with ties to the energy industry, have died suddenly in unclear circumstances after the start of what Moscow calls its special military operation in Ukraine in February 2022.
