War in Israel: Qatar's Emir calls to spare civilians and prevent conflict
HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Than

During his speech at the opening of the 52nd session of the Council of the Consultative Assembly (Shura - Parliament) of Qatar this morning, the Emir of the State of Qatar HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani called to prevent the expansion of the conflict and to to spare civilians from the consequences of the military confrontation in Gaza, stressing that this war has crossed all borders, therefore it must be stopped in order to avoid further bloodshed.

"It is assumed that in our times the interruption of water, medicine and food cannot be used as a weapon against an entire people" - he added.

Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani called for a serious regional and international attitude in the face of the dangerous escalation that threatens the security of the region and the world, stressing that "we cannot continue to ignore the large number of civilian victims, especially children and women ".

He further said that war does not provide solutions of any kind and all that will happen is a worsening of suffering and an increase in the number of victims, as well as a deep sense of injustice, underlining that the only way to guarantee security and stability for both peoples is what has so far been avoided, which is the achievement of a just and lasting peace, as well as the granting of all the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people recognized by international bodies, including the establishment of the state its independence on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

It is worth mentioning here that Qatar has managed to secure the release of four hostages from Hamas so far through mediation efforts, while work is underway to release dozens of others.
