Vucic meets the Serbian Patriarch, Porfirje

The Serbian President, Aleksandar Vučič, said that there was no certainty that peace would be restored in the north of Kosovo, since the Serbs have already erected barricades blocking the roads for several days.

Vucic met with the head of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Porfirje, who was banned from entering Kosovo this Tuesday.

"Even if somehow we manage to get through this situation, and I'm not sure that this will happen - not because we don't want to, but because it's impossible to talk to someone who won't talk, who won't listen to any argument", said Vucic.

The Serbian President said that he had appealed to "those who have influence in Prishtina" to change their minds and allow the Patriarch to enter Kosovo.

Regarding dialogue in general, he added:

"Talks continue with EU envoy Miroslav Lajcak, American envoy Gabriel Escobar and all the others. In an effort to maintain peace, promote peace and reach a compromise. And as his holiness Patriarch Porfirije said, we have mobilized all our people and resources".

On Tuesday, the Serbian Defense Ministry said President Vučić had ordered the mobilization of the army and police, as he believed the Kosovo government would attack the north to remove the barricades. The Kosovo Police said they have the capacity to remove the barricades, but are waiting for KFOR's approval to act.

According to the latest statistics, about 50 thousand Serbs live in the northern part of Kosovo, who refuse to recognize the sovereignty of Pristina and the independence of Kosovo from Serbia.
