Trump to give Iran 'last chance' with proposal

US President Donald Trump is expected to present Iran with a "last chance" offer, US and European officials told The Jerusalem Post newspaper on Monday.

One official added that it may even be slightly better than the previous proposal the administration presented to the Iranians about a week and a half ago.

It is expected that even if such a proposal is made, it will be based on the American principle of zero uranium enrichment.

As the Post reported on Sunday, Iran has turned to Oman and Qatar to mediate with the Trump administration in an effort to stop Israeli attacks and resume negotiations over its nuclear program. Saudi Arabia is also working behind the scenes through a special channel to promote a ceasefire.

Trump confirmed earlier Monday that Iran had contacted the U.S. in an effort to stop the Israeli strikes. "It looks like Iran is not winning this war. They need to talk before it's too late," Trump said in Canada.
