Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stated that he does not rule out the possibility of assassinating Iran's Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.
In an interview with the American network ABC News, Netanyahu said that such an action "would not escalate the conflict, but would end it."
Asked if Israel would directly target the Iranian leader, Netanyahu said: "We are doing what is necessary."
He added that Israel has previously struck Iran's top nuclear scientists and that "there is still work to be done in several other areas."
According to him, actions against Iran are carried out "in the service of humanity," to protect the world from what he called the Iranian nuclear threat.
“Tel Aviv is being attacked today, tomorrow it could be New York,” Netanyahu said, adding: “I understand the ‘America First’ principle, but I don’t understand ‘America Dead.’”
