Rishi Sunak has urged his Home Secretary to sign the biggest ever deal with the French to deal with illegal immigrants on the south coast.
The Prime Minister will meet with French President Emmanuel Macron at the COP27 summit in Egypt tomorrow to clarify the details.
The deal, which the UK hopes to sign in the coming weeks, would mean an increase in French officers patrolling the beaches.
The decision comes after Suella Braverman warned in an article for The Mail on Sunday that many Albanians claim to be "modern day slaves", despite paying thousands of pounds to arrive in Britain.
Last night, a senior Tory official said: "There is no doubt that the Channel migrant crisis is the single biggest issue for MPs right now."
