Anton Rasaj, the owner of the "Orenda" asylum, where the elderly Minire Nur was raped, said that the nurse who raped her, Aurona Pelaj, resigned the night before because she was going to start her master's degree.
He says that they have a regulation for accepting new nurses to work, adding that they worked 8 hours a day.
"She was employed by us for two and a half months. The night before he raped the elderly woman, he resigned from his job. He informed me that he would not work at the asylum. He had to continue his master's degree. He had said that there is no way he could do both school and work.
We have a regulation for accepting new employees. The nurses have been with the level of education that our center needs. We work in three shifts. We work 8 hours a day for each person with an hour off," he said.
He further said that he will respect the decision of the Prosecutor's Office to suspend the work of the asylum even though he considered it unfair.
"I received an email from November 7 that work in our institution will be suspended. I will respect the decision, there are other forms of appeal. I considered the decision that was taken regarding the asylum to be unfair" - he said in an interview for Euronews Albania.
